Brady, Brady, Brady

What can I say...he can make me the happiest person alive but he can also make me the craziest!! There are so many adjectives to describe Brady sweet, cuddly, lovable, handsome.....crazy, loud, high-energy. This week has been a little crazy in our house because Brady is still getting up in the middle of the night, but the last three nights Cole has joined him about 2-3 am. This leaves two very exhausted parents. Cole's is just a phase we think, however, we have fought sleep with Brady for 3 1/2 years. So, we are having a sleep study done Friday night. Our main concern is that with him waking up so much we are worried that he is never getting into the REM sleep. We are wondering if this is the cause of some of the discipline problems we are having with him too. Please pray for this sleep study that we will get some answers. Even if that answer is that he is getting REM sleep and he is just an ornery boy. At least then we won't feel bad about getting really strict with him at night. My biggest concern is that we are getting mad and disciplining him and he is really having trouble getting into that REM sleep.

I always tell people that Brady makes me a better mom! He makes me a much less judgemental mom towards other kids and parents, which in turn makes me a better teacher too. Another "battle" we've been having with him is at dinner time he likes to play with his milk. This usually ends up in him spilling it and me having to clean up a mess. Tonight we had enough and while he was in his room for a cool down we put his milk into a baby bottle and told him until he can prove that he can act/eat like a big boy he was going to have to drink out of a bottle. He was furious...which hopefully means we got our point across. I know that probably sounds harsh, but the best book I have read regarding discipline is Creative Correction. The whole point of the book is that the consequence needs to reflect the action instead of having generic consequences. We'll see if it was effective tomorrow. Needless to say, the start of school is rapidly approaching and we are hoping to resolve a couple of these issues before I start back to school and he goes to the 4's classroom for preschool. Dr. Leland also noted the ticks so they are going to track the brain activitiy to see if they see anything going on in his sleep regarding the ticks. Please pray for his sleep study this Friday. I'll update as soon as we are able to know the results!
