Butler Pride!

To say that I am proud to be a Butler alumni and to live in Brownsburg would be an understatement! In our house we love the NCAA tournament (in fact, we have a trophy that we award to the winner of our bracket competition)! This year, however, has been the best NCAA tournament experience that I have ever had! Watching Butler beat schools that have more students, higher paid coaches, and top recruits has been wonderful, but what is even better is the way that they did it. They didn't do it because of their coach, they didn't do it because of one player, they did it because everyone worked together and put the team before any of the individuals on that team. They did it with class and with humble attitudes. We live in a "take care of yourself" kind of world, and I think that is most obvious in athletics. A lot of these top athletes are only concerned about themselves and what's in it for them. It is nice to say that the team I cheer for doesn't have anyone on it like that. Even when reporters continually pushed Gordon Hayward to take some credit, he consistently referred back to his teammates and his coach. Living in Brownsburg, everyone in the community was supporting Butler because one of their own was helping to lead that team! This town has taken so much price in Gordon Hayward, and they should. He is a stellar athlete and a good person. I feel so blessed for my sons to grow up in this town with some of the same role models and coaches that Gordon Hayward had growing up here not that long ago! Here are some of our pictures from the championship game that we were so fortunate to be a part of. Even though Butler didn't win, they have so much to be proud of! They gave basketball fans and little boys like Brady and Cole a new set of role models and hope that it could be them one day and I love it!

Cheers to the Butler Basketball team....a wonderfully talented, humble group of student athletes and their classy coach! (Just a fun fact, Brad Stevens and Brad Sabelhaus are both 33 and both have a 4 year old son named Brady. :-) Isn't that funny!)
