Another Good Day!

Cole has had another great day today! He is more alert every day, which means we get to enjoy him and getting to know his personality. We are loving every minute of it! They did a blood culture yesterday, and we did not receive word that it was positive today. Yeah! They can't officially tell us it was negative until it has been grown out for 48 hours. Hopefully that is our first negative, and the one they took today will be the second negative! If they are both negative, then we could potentially take him home next weekend or Monday/Tuesday of the following week. (He has to be on antibiotics 7 days past the 2nd negative test.) That means we are hopefully within a week or so of getting to take him home. All 3 of us cannot wait for that day to be here!! Cole has had some high blood pressure, so they did an ultra sound of his kidneys and bladder. I guess some babies have reflux (similar to acid reflux) of the kidneys where urin can reflux from the bladder back up to the kidneys. This can cause high blood pressure. Fortunately the ultra sounds showed that his kidneys/bladder are working great and they are pretty sure that the high blood pressure is from the withdrawal of the drugs. I'm going to head to bed, because I am trying to be at the hospital for his 8:30 feeding. Thanks for thinking of us!
