Cole Bradley Sabelhaus was born on Monday March 9th, 2009. He weighed 7lbs and 12.5oz and was 20 inches long. His big brother Brady has been so excited for him to get here. I went in for a scheduled C-Section because 1. I had a c-section with Brady and 2. the cord was wrapped around his neck. I was 39 weeks so we were anticipating a quick delivery. The delivery went well, but soon after Cole was born they noticed that he wasn't breathing very well. They took him to the NICU and put him on a C-PAP machine hoping that would take care of the problem. Unfortunately Cole's conditioned worsened and that is when they figured out that he has Pulmonary Hypertension. When a baby is in the womb, the blood pressure inside the lungs is higher than the blood pressure in the rest of the body. When babies are born, the blood vessels in the lungs open causing the blood pressure to equal out. Something happened when Cole was born that caused his blood vessels in his lungs not to open, thus keeping the blood from flowing to the lungs as it should. This condition does not happen often, but it isn't considered "rare" either. Cole is now on a ventilator and several life-saving medications. Time will show if he will be able to heal himself or if we will have to take the next step. He is currently in good hands, but if the next step is required then we will have to take him to Riley Children's Hospital for surgery. This would be major surgery and could have some permanent affects on Cole's life, so we are praying to God that we do not have to go that route. Right now he seems to be stable on the ventilator and we are playing the hurry up and wait game to see what is going to happen next. I will try to update this blog as often as I can as I know many people are praying for our little guy. Lots of people have asked what they can do to help and honestly the best thing anyone can do is to take time daily to pray for him. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and we know that God is listening to all of the prayers for Cole. He is loved by many and he is in God's hands. Keep the prayers coming!

You are most definitely in our prayers and will continue to be!!!! Use this time to get as much rest as you can because when he comes home with a healthy set of lungs, you won't get much sleep anymore!! :)

As a mom of a baby with special needs, know there will be unexpected challenges, but celebrate each moment. Cole is here to make us all better people. He will teach you more than you thought you could learn about the value of life and the meaning of love. Enjoy each moment with him and truly find happiness in the little accomplishments. Jesus - thank you for this new life! We know you have a plan for the Sabelhaus family, and we submit to that plan. Even though we may be surprised by what is happening to Cole, you aren't and we can stand amazed at you because you are trustworthy and care more about Cole than we do! Jesus - it's hard for us to comprehend why this is necessary to happen, so I ask that you be Brad and Tara's comforter and guide during this time and protect them. We lift Cole up to you and ask you to heal his little body and bring comfort to him. In Jesus name, AMEN!

We love you guys so much! We are praying constantly for this little guy. I keep telling myself that the God who parted the seas and turned water to wine can heal this precious child. Our God is amazing and he has a plan. Tara and Brad please be steadfast in your faith; God is good! We are here is you need us. We love you!
