Cole had a big day today. They stopped his pain medication and he seems to be doing really well with it so far. They took away the versed (sedation drug) drip and now they are giving him small doses every 4 hours through his IV. Tomorrow they hope to give him doses every 6 hours, then every 8, then 12, and then he will be off all of his drugs! Unfortunately the blood culture came back positive again so they had to take out his central line. The good news with that is that now he only has an IV, the bad news is that IV's only last a couple of days and he has to be on antibiotics for at least 7 more. That means that he is going to have to get stuck more often unfortunately. They just took away his nasal canula, which means that he is breathing all by himself! Praise God!!
We do have a prayer request. A young couple lost their baby last night in the NICU. They had to come today to pack up all of the baby's things. I can't even imagine what they are feeling right now. Please pray for peace for both of them and that God will comfort them in their time of grief.
We are so thankful for Cole and his amazing recovery. We hope that couple has as wonderful a support system as we are blessed to have.
